The Staff and management at our St Annes venue have literally raised the bar by scooping two prestigious PubWatch awards.

Toast Cafe Bar & Grill Restaurant and The Loft Cocktail Bar and nightclub on Wood Street was a winner of Fylde Borough Council’s Raise The Bar initiative – run in conjunction with Lancashire Constabulary and PubWatch – for which it received a certificate of excellence with a distinction.

It was also the overall winner of the night time economy award for 2015/16.

The Raise the Bar awards presentations, held at The Lord Derby in St Annes, are given in recognition of licensed premises delivering four main licensing objectives.

They are the prevention of crime and disorder, public safety, prevention of public nuisance and the protection of children from harm.

All Fylde borough council licensed premises signed up to PubWatch scheme were eligible for participation in Raise the Bar and were assessed by a judging panel of environmental officers and local councillors.

“Around 20 premises took part and all of them achieved the pass mark – a great achievement in itself,” said Toast and Loft general manager Richard Yates. “Some achieved a Merit award and one or two achieved the highest level – Distinction – us being one of those.

“The extra award was presented for day-time/early evening businesses and night-time economy businesses.”

The day-time went to Capri and the night-time went to Toast and its top floor club, The Loft.

The awards recognised team effort, said Richard, and he paid particular credit to Toast’s HR & Compliance Officer Lisa Joanne Munday.

“She should take credit for her hard work in ensuring the venue and the team did over and above and were extremely compliant – in the words of the inspecting officer/judge of the awards,” said Richard. “It is an even bigger achievement given that Toast is a relatively small independent company and does not have the back up, head office training resources and systems that some of the other venues had – being backed by large national companies and brands.”

“Being recognised in this way demonstrates how at Toast and The Loft we go way above and beyond in all of our licensing compliance paperwork etc – overseen by Lisa both in St Annes and at our Blackpool operation”
